چکیده
The integration of topology optimization with lattice structures has shown great potential for the additive manufacturing (AM) lightweight superior mechanical properties and multifunctional characteristics. To further improve design manufacturability, structural efficiency, isotropy computational homogenization-based (HMTO) method was proposed to integrate plate–lattices exhibiting excellent elastic isotropy. validity demonstrated by comparing optimized models conventional composed truss–lattices solid materials. Results show that highly improves stiffness energy absorption capability.

Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing
This paper gives an overview of the issues and opportunities for the application of topology optimization methods for additive manufacturing (AM). The main analysis issues discussed are: how to achieve the maximum geometric resolution to allow the fine features easily manufacturable by AM to be represented in the optimization model; the manufacturing constraints to be considered, and the workfl...
متن کاملUltralight, ultrastiff mechanical metamaterials.
The mechanical properties of ordinary materials degrade substantially with reduced density because their structural elements bend under applied load. We report a class of microarchitected materials that maintain a nearly constant stiffness per unit mass density, even at ultralow density. This performance derives from a network of nearly isotropic microscale unit cells with high structural conne...
متن کاملSelf-supporting Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing
The paper presents a topology optimization approach that designs an optimal structure, called a self-supporting structure, which is ready to be fabricated via additive manufacturing without the usage of additional support structures. Such supports in general have to be created during the fabricating process so that the primary object can be manufactured layer by layer without collapse, which is...
متن کاملTo Refine or Not to Refine: Topology Optimization of Adaptively Refined Infill Structures for Additive Manufacturing
We present a novel method for optimizing structures by adaptively refining the structural details. The adaptively refined structures topologically resemble the graph composed of edges in the quadtree mesh. However, while adaptive mesh refinement is employed in numerical analysis for reducing computational complexity, in this work we interpret the edges as structural elements carrying mechanical...
متن کاملSupport structure constrained topology optimization for additive manufacturing
Background: With recent advances in additive manufacturing (AM) and topology optimization (TO), there is a significant interest in integrating the two fields [1]. Although TO and AM have flourished independent of each other, there is significant interest today in integrating them for two primary reasons: (1) Designs stemming from TO are geometrically complex, and therefore hard to manufacture u...
